Who Are We?

This unique organization of talented young musicians, The Singing Y'ers (pronounced "wires") Boy Choir, began performing in 1964.

The Singing Y'ers have entertained thousands with their varied musical programs.

Who are the boys?

Members of the Singing Y'ers Program are young men from Central Illinois, generally between the ages of eight and fourteen.  All enjoy singing and most are involved in other musical activities, athletics, scouting and various school and community organizations.

How are we related to the YMCA?

The Singing Y'ers Boy Choir takes its name from its long affiliation with the Bloomington YMCA.  All boys in the program are considered members of the YMCA, which provides rehearsal and office space plus organizational support. The YMCA believes it is important to provide opportunities for music education, voice training and self-confidence that might not otherwise be available.
